Isaiah 45:11-19
The people had turned to idol worship. God revealed Himself as the true and living God. God anointed Cyrus to perform special services for Israel. God worked through Cyrus for the conquest, but the victories are accredited to God. The Babylonians had to carry their gods when they fled from the enemy. God carries us when we are fleeing from our troubles. I made the earth, and created humankind upon it; it was my hands that stretched out the heavens, and I commanded all their host. Isaiah 45:12
Just as God called Cyrus by name at least a century before Cyrus was born, God cares for us before we are born, and knows each breath we take as we grow older. He does not give us a task as great as He gave Cyrus, but He does give each of us a job, so to speak. We each receive at least one talent to use in service to Him. It may range from teaching, caring for children or the elderly, or it may be the gift of music to praise Him. We know God’s purpose for us when we pray and feel His gentle nudge as we go through life.
How can you determine God’s purpose for you?
