INSTALLATION SERVICE

Sunday, August 1st there will be an Installation Service for Rev. Tyler Thompson at 3 p.m. in the Sanctuary, followed by a reception in the Grand Foyer.

DEACONS & ELDERS
On August 1 at the W.O.W. Worship and Sanctuary Worship there will be an Installation Service for the 2010-2011 deacons and elders. It is not expected for Elders and Deacons to attend both worship services but are invited to attend and participate in both.
Saturday, August 7th, 8:30 a.m. - Elders Breakfast, please make reservations.
Saturday, September 11, 8:30 a.m. - Joint Elder and Deacon Breakfast, please make reservations.
YOUTH ACTIVITIES
Super Saturday on August 7th from 9:00 am - 3:00 pm. Wear your PJ's early and bring a change of clothes for service and fun. Lunch will be included.
Wednesday, August 18th - "Mid Week Splash Pool Party" at Rhodes College 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm. You can drop your child off at Rhodes or ride the bus which will leave at 5:55 pm from the back parking lot. Permission slips (now available on the church's web site) required to ride the bus.

9:30 - 10:30 am - Lindengirls
9:30 - 10:30 am - Lindenguys (new Sunday School option available for boys 6th-12th grade)
11:00 am - 12:00 - Middle School Sunday School (6th-8th Grades)
11:00 am - 12:00 - High School Sunday School (9th-12th Grades)
Weekly Book Club

choose between 6:30 a.m. or 12:30 p.m. on Thursdays. Led by Dr. Buck and Rev. Thompson in the Bell Conference Room. The book for discussion is “The Gospel According to Starbuck” by Leonard Sweet, popular author (Soul Salsa) and professor of evangelism at New Jersey’s Drew Theological School.

“CIRCLE OF LIFE” – 4th Annual Women’s Retreat

All women of Lindenwood are invited to a day of fun, fellowship and spiritual enrichment on Saturday, July 31. The theme is “Who am I? Why am I here?” We will look a the uniqueness of ourselves and at how God wants us to use this. Coffee will be served at 9:30 a.m. in Stauffer Hall with the program beginning at 10 a.m. and closing at 2:30. Lunch will be served – cost $5. MANAGING YOUR EMOTIONS WORKSHOP

will be held on four Thursday evenings beginning, August 12 through September 2, from 6-7:30 p.m. in Room 202. This workshop will be led by LifeQuest Counselor, Amy Gallimore (featuring Jeff Koehn). There will be a minimum of 5 for the class to make and a maximum of 10 in the class. For more information or to register for the workshop contact Amy at 496-9674.

CHURCH HEALTH CENTER
will be offering free clinical breast exams Tuesday, August 10 through Friday, August 13 at Church Health Center Wellness, 1115 Union Ave. To schedule an appointment, call Amber at 259-4673, ext 1677 or email weeda@churchhealthcenter.org
COMMIT TO QUITE – The Church Health Center is offering Commit to Quit, a six-week course in smoking cessation at the Wellness Center. The upcoming start date is Tuesday, August 3 at 6 p.m. The course is free to Church Health Center Wellness members and patients and is open to the community for a $60 fee. LINDENWOOD’S GOT TALENT! MAKES CONTRIBUTION TO TENNESSEE FLOOD RELIEF
Thanks to the efforts of members who organized and produced our first LIndenwood’s God Talent, we provided $1,000 through Week of Compassion to assist Tennesseans who were impacted by the recent floods.
SWIM PARTY AND COOK-OUT

All families are invited to the swim party and cook-out on Wednesday, August 4th. Everyone meet for the Wednesday Night Light service at 6 p.m. After the service we will meet at Rhodes College for a swim party from 7-9 p.m. Hamburgers, hot dogs, cookies and drinks will be provided. THE CHANCEL CHOIR
begins their vacation following The Sanctuary Service Sunday and will return on September 12. They will sing “When In Our Music God is Glorified”, composed in commemoration of Gary Beard’s 25th anniversary as Director of Music in 2002. Also, Ryan Anthony will be with us (this week and August 8 will be his only Sundays here until December), and he will play arrangements of spirituals and 2 concerti movements in the service.
HABITAT FOR HUMANITY’S FALL BUILD

More than 60 Lindenwood members and friends have signed up to participate in our Habitat for Humanity Fall Build! The Outreach Ministry Team is now working with Habitat to make sure all our volunteers are accommodated. If you haven't signed up and are interested please be in touch with Johnny Wray.

SUNDAY SCHOOL CLASSES

Please have a member of you class stop by the Church Workroom, located off Easterwood Gallery, on Sunday and check for class mail. Sunday School Class mail is put in the gray mailbox, marked “Christian Ed/Library”. The mailbox is quite full of mail.

Adopt-A-School “GOING BACK TO SCHOOL” A SUCCESS!
Many thanks to the many Lindenwood members and friends who've help make our initial Adopt-a-School project with Shannon Elementary such a success. You gave more than $3,300 and enabled Lindenwood to provide 85 back packs filled with grade appropriate supplies and more than 250 uniforms. Thank you! Our next effort will be to provide tutors, mentors and other volunteers. If you're interested, please contact Johnny Wray at johnny.wray@lindenwood.net.

THE KING’S CHOIR (GRADES 1-5) AND LAUDATE! (GRADES 6-12)

will have two pre-season rehearsals, August 21 & 28 in the Youth Music Suite. The King’s Choir will meet 10:00-11:30am and Laudate! will meet noon-1:30pm. CELEBRATING 100 YEARS!

Join us in Sanctuary Worship, Sunday, August 22, as we recognize Ms. Alethea Klinke on her 100th birthday. Immediately following the service we will host a celebration for her in the Chapel Library. In lieu of gifts, everyone is asked to bring Alethea a greeting card.

SHOP SCHNUCKS AND PERCENTAGE GOES TO LINDENWOOD

Stop by the reception desk in Easterwood Gallery on Sunday and pick-up your Schnucks Custormer Card. Present the card every time you shop at Schnucks and they contribute a percentage of your monthly purchase to Lindenwood.
